Sumatra Toba Coffee

From an exotic land comes an even-more-exotic coffee. Our Sumatra Toba Coffee impresses with its richly captivating aroma and taste. It has a good body (but not as good as our Ken’s) and a full flavour.

A subtle fruitiness peeks from behind dark chocolate notes while flowery and spicy hints creep up on you like a tiger in the undergrowth.

Take a sip and close your eyes. You’ll picture a lush and mysterious jungle. You’ll imagine mountains shrouded in restless clouds. Furthermore, you’ll dream about those funny little monkeys that always look mildly concerned about something. We did warn you this stuff was impactful.

Origin and Plantation

This exceptional coffee from Indonesia is cultivated at the edge of the Toba Lake on the Island of Sumatra. The plantations are run by many small farmers, who receive much support from the exporter, such as interest-free pre-financing of the fertilizers needed for cultivation.

In addition, other projects such as a children´s home and a vocational college for nurses are sponsored. This special coffee is produced at an altitude of approximately 1,200 m above sea level, and the semi-washed process yields its exceptional flavour. The sustainability of this wonderful coffee is traceable to the individual plantation and coffee farmer.

Character and Taste

The complex profile of the cup is ideally suited for single-origin filter coffee. Good body, fine and full flavour, slight fruit acid in the background, flowery, dark chocolate notes, and spicy.

Particularities

All Arabica coffees in Indonesia are picked by hand, whether they are from small farmers or grown on large plantations. Today, more than 90 % of the coffee is produced on farms with an average area of one hectare.

The most unusual production method in Indonesia is used to create the “Kopi Luwak”. Civets eat ripe coffee cherries. During digestion, the outer coats of the fruit are removed. The excreted coffee beans are collected, washed and dried.

Delivery times are calculated from the time of dispatch, rather than from the moment you place your order. As each product is carefully picked and packed by hand, these estimates can vary, particularly during busy times. If your order isn't dispatched straight away, don't panic! We're on it.

Your soap is dispatched directly from France, so please allow the above 'working days' for your delivery to arrive. These dispatch times are estimated.

Parcels are shipped using a courier* service, and we will notify you if there are any delays with your order, (out of stock items, etc.)

*If delivery is attempted unsuccessfully, UPS may leave your parcel at a nearby UPS Access Point, so you can collect your parcel at your convenience.

PLEASE NOTE: Working days do not include Saturday or Sunday as defined by the courier companies.
